Where it ranks
Is it right for you?
Best forCinematic multi-shot sequences with consistent characters
Turning character sheets, key art and voice-over into 15–30 second trailer or ad cuts with consistent characters.
The highest-ranked of the three on independent boards and in same-prompt tests, with strong character consistency for multi-shot trailers; Dreamina's terms describe the service as non-commercial, so check rights (or use the BytePlus API) before a store trailer.
Strengths
- Top-5 on AA text-to-video boards and #3 image-to-video with audio
- Holds a character across shots better than Kling or Veo in same-prompt tests
- Clips up to 30 s (2.5) with native audio and up to 12 references (2.0)
Watch out for
- Dreamina terms describe the service as private, non-commercial use
- Slowest and priciest per clip in one test; Seedance 2.5 tops out at 1080p
- Phased regional rollout and strict IP/likeness filters (real faces barred as BytePlus source material)
How it works
What's different: Uses very large reference sets to keep characters, style and sound consistent across long multi-shot clips. Kling and Flow take fewer references. Runway and Luma host Seedance as one model among many.
- Where you use it
- Dreamina web app by CapCut/ByteDance. Seedance 2.5 is the newest model. It is also offered through partners such as Runway.
- You give it
- Text or scripts plus up to 50 references (images, video, audio), tagged in the prompt as @Image1, @Audio1. Also sketch-to-video and reference-to-video.
- You get
- Clips up to 30 seconds (180 seconds in a long-video beta), with native audio, lip sync and several shots in one generation. 1080p confirmed. 4K is claimed.
- How you steer it
- Numbered references in the prompt, motion paths and reference guides for placing characters, aspect ratio, duration, up to 60fps on paid tiers. Other models (Seedream, Veo, Sora) can be selected.
- How you refine results
- Edit one region while keeping lighting and timing, extend in long-video mode, or regenerate. Avatar and lip-sync tools are included.

- YouTube: Dan Kuda AI, 'I Tested 3 AI Video Generators: Which Keeps Character Consistency?' Seedance 2.0 won clearly: dynamic scenes, natural motion and the character locked across every clip. Downsides: slowest (about 15 min per clip in explore mode), about 3x Kling's credit cost, and only 720p output needing an upscale per clip.
- YouTube: Ans, 'I tested Seedance 2.0 vs Kling 3.0 vs VEO 3.1' Seedance 2.0 won almost every one of 10 prompts (action, multi-cut dialogue with lip sync, emotion close-ups, prop interaction). Flaws: one clip with three hands, and a New York drone prompt came out looking like a Chinese city.
